Why Is My Ac Unit Not Coming On?

1. Checking your thermostat

There is a possibility that you might have not programmed your thermostat properly check that your thermostat is set to cool and should be minimum 5o bellow than your normal temperature.

There is a chance that your thermostat is having some defects. Try to turn the unit on from the central unit.

2. Dirty air filters

Dirty air filters are the most common reasons for this problem. Change the filters if they are dirty. Proper maintenance of the unit can help you avoid this problem.

3. Faulty motor


Most number times if your motors are defective your air conditioner will shut down. Call the professional to check the motor if you can’t repair than you have to be ready to buy a new one.

4. Wiring problem

Look around for your electric panel turn off your tripped breakers and turn it on again. If the breaker trips again, call the technician.

5. Defective compressor


Your ac unit will not come on if there is any problem in the compressor. Proper maintenance of your compressor is necessary to avoid this problem.

6. Lack of refrigerant


Your ac unit will turn on if there isn’t sufficient refrigerant available in your compressor or leakage off refrigerant.

7. Dirty condensate drain

Go outside the house search for the condensate drain line. Connect the vacuum hose to clean the condensate.
